Peeler Rug Mill Fire

At 3:42 am on July 4, 2019, our department along with Grassy Pond and Macedoina were dispatched to a commercial fire in the 1100 block of Champion Ferry Rd at the former Peeler Rug Mill Building. Crews arrived to find the 60,000 square foot building, which was currently being used to grind and recycle plastic car parts, heavily involved in fire. Open for Business!!!!

Our last post was requesting support from the community for our request for a Tax Millage increase to fund a new fire station. How fitting is it that the next post would be to announce the opening of that new fire station!! Operations were moved to the new fire station, located at 455 Buck Shoals Rd on October 9, 2018.

As you have seen in local media reports and a letter you will be receiving by mail, the Cherokee Creek Volunteer Fire Department has been authorized by Cherokee County Council, to petition our residents to vote on and hopefully approve a millage increase from 12 mills to 18 mills for our fire district, in effort to build a new Main Fire Station.
