Everyone welcome our newest 4 legged live in member Bear to the department ! Bear is a full blooded German Shepherd and joined the department on 1-3-22. If you see him out and about or on a call dont be afraid to say hello. 

Outdoor fire safety

  • Move the grill away from siding, decking, and other things that can catch fire.
  • Stay with the grill the entire time you're cooking.
  • Use long-handled barbecue tools when cooking on the grill.
  • Use a metal screen over wood-burning fires to keep sparks from floating out.
  • Turn off or put out fires before you leave the backyard.
  • Build campfires at least 15 feet away from tent walls, shrubs or other things that burn.
  • The best way to stay safe from fireworks is to not use them.

Come out and join us at our first ever Halloween Bash at Cherokee Creek Fire Department.
We will start at 5:30 pm and go till 8:00 pm.

We will also be doing a CPR demonstration and family safety plan for any parents that are interested.
We will also have a Hotdog sale $5 plates, which gives you two Hotdogs, chips, and a drink.
All proceeds will go into our fundraiser fund.

We need your help!!! We are currently looking to recruit volunteer firefighters as well as Driver / Operators. Driver / Operators can been men or women that may feel that they are “too old” or just don’t necessarily have the desire to fight fire or go in a burning structure but they can drive and operate the trucks. The training for driver operator initially is about 60 hours at no cost to you. Below are a few of the incentives offered…

The Cherokee Creek Fire Department is a primarily volunteer fire department located in the Northwest Corner of Cherokee County, South Carolina. Situated just north of the City of Gaffney, we border Spartanburg County, SC as well as Cleveland and Rutherford Counties in North Carolina. Our primary protection area consists of 39 square miles of primarily rural residential area with a mix of commercial and industrial. Three major routes of travel through our area include Highway 11, Highway 221, and Highway 221A. The routes are traveled by visitors and tourist coming to explore sites including the Cowpens National Battlefield, the infamous “Peach” water tower and the Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Byway. Organized in 1978 as an “all volunteer” department, to date we have grown to a combination department, operating with 35 members and two fire stations answering upwards of 450 calls for service annually. Each station is staffed with a Fire Engine, Tanker, Brush / Medical Response unit, and Rescue Truck. In the year 2000 in order to keep up with growth and demand, the department hired 3 paid firefighters to staff our station between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm. Their duties include responding to emergency calls, Fire and Life Safety Inspections, Pre Fire Plans, Daily Station Duties and Fire Hydrant Maintenance and Inspections.





Have you ever wondered what would happen if you or a family member called 911 but were unable to speak? What if you had the option to have potentially living saving information about you or your family show up on a screen when the dispatcher answers the phone? You're probably thinking, that would be great but it probably cost money. Great news, you have that option and it's FREE!!! Our E-911 center uses a program called Smart 911. This program allows you to set up a "safety profile" for you and/or every member of your family. When the number(s) entered in that profile dials 911, that information that you put in automatically pops up on the screen at the dispatch center. You can put in as little or as much information as possible. Including but not limited to... how many people live in your home, if any of those occupants have a medical condition, a description of the home or any cars that may be in the driveway. You can set up a profile for an elderly or handicapped loved one that may require special attention or care. Maybe you're not comfortable adding all this sensitive information for people to see, again you can add as little or as much as you want. This information is kept secure and can only be seen by the dispatcher when that number calls 911, the information is not able to be obtained at any other time.
